Our Master’s Program for Cosmetologists
Most cosmetology education programs fail their students. They’ve charged their students tens of thousands of dollars (the average student cost for cosmetology training is about $20K) and they graduate lacking basic skills. When graduates apply for jobs in salons, they don’t have the necessary skills to meet guests’ expectations. Salon owners are responsible for properly training them after school, which costs us in time, supplies, and wages.

We don’t believe in the “starving artist” mentality. Your skills should earn you more than a liveable wage. They should earn you a lifestyle that supports your ambitions

Every guest counts and matters and numbers don’t lie. We teach our Beauty Experts the value of growing client lists and they don’t grow without hard work. We emphasize starting somewhere and doing it daily, whether it’s word-of-mouth marketing or social media promotion.
The business side of beauty is something Missouri’s cosmetology programs do a poor job teaching. At The Color Room, we believe that teaching the business side of beauty gives you more than a job. It gives you the building blocks to have a successful career in the beauty industry!

Master’s Program for Cosmetologists FAQs

You will work side-by-side with educators most of the time, but we also have class time.

You earn shifts as you graduate sections of the program, eventually earning your own shifts in time. We help you achieve these milestones every step of the way.

Yes. We pay a competitive hourly wage, plus tips.

Yes, but we are only open every other Saturday. When you become a level 4 associate, you drop them completely (Unless you want them!).

Yes. You start with mostly evening shifts, and eventually drop all but one when you become an educator.

If you work over 24 hours a week, we offer up to three weeks PTO, retirement match, maternity/paternity pay, a free yoga membership, and education and certifications. You also receive paid benefits, such as holidays off, a Christmas break, and yearly team retreat .

No. You sign what is called an Education Agreement. You can leave the program at any time. However, because The Color Room is paying you to learn and covering the costs of your training (re-training), we want to work with people who are excited to stay with our team long term. Therefore, if you quit or are terminated from the Master’s Program, we require you to pay back all educational expenses you gained during your time at TCR.

The program takes approximately 6-9 months to complete. The great thing about our program is YOU control how fast you move through it based on how many models (clients) you get while on opportunity shifts.
